Site Audit

As well as carrying out a travel survey you should also do a site audit to assess your organisation’s cycling infrastructure. Count the number of cycle parking spaces. Are there enough? Are they secure and convenient? How many showers are there and are they accessible to all? Is your site safe and convenient for cyclists? Is it easy for cyclists to get on and off the site?

Ideally, a group of people should conduct the site audit so as to get a range of opinions. See if you can acquire a map or plan of your site and buildings and mark current facilities and suggested improvements on it.

By drawing up a cycle audit and action plan, you will have greater potential to take advantage of any future refurbishment and development programmes your organisation may run. Also they will allow you to take full advantage of any schemes that offer outside sources of funding.

Having carried out a travel survey and a site audit you are now in a position to put forward an action plan.
